Emeritus Lynn Shewmaker, O.D.

Dr. Emeritus Lynn Shewmaker, founder of Vision One, grew up in Price Hill and received his doctorate of optometry from The Ohio State University. In 1981, he began practicing in Northern Kentucky and just retired this year after 40 wonderful years! Dr. Shewmaker strived to provide unparalleled vision care services to his patients through the latest diagnostic technology and establishing personal relationships with each patient and their families. He is a member of the Kentucky Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, as well as being board certified by the American Board of Optometry.

"Although VISION ONE is a medical/vision practice I started, in my heart the real founders are the patients, past staff and current, all the doctors current and past. It has been a collaborative effort driven by feedback from patients, inspiration from the VISION ONE Family, and the growth of the Northern Kentucky community. My personal focus has always been on building relationships, with staff and other physicians and patients, to deliver the best care possible while supporting the community that supported us.

Stories can be boring, so I’ll be brief… VISION ONE started in Ft. Wright at Tower Hill Plaza in 1981 as just me and one other staff member. As we grew, we worked to bring innovative and technology-centered medical/vision eye care to the community. We grew our team, tools, and locations over the years with the goal of helping our patients see better today and tomorrow, creating a company culture of caring, and striving to do our best every day.

Almost forty years later, we are only getting BETTER! Under the leadership of Dr. Jenny Mercado, VISION ONE continues to provide the best care for our patients, and I get the chance to witness what I started continuing to flourish.

Personally, I am lucky to have a wonderful wife, Darla, and two great kids, Ashley and Sydney. In my retirement, I’ve been spending my time mentoring young people, gardening, improving my chef skills, traveling and making the most out of each day.

It is always great to see you all out in the community whether grocery shopping, walking or just being out.
